Worn Out

We spent HOURS playing our first day.

My youngest played all the Wii Sports games over and over. I really only liked bowling (at first anyway). My youngest was fairly good at boxing, but that just wore me out.
We slept great that night, but both were extremly sore the next day. And we are a fairly active family.
But, we were "hooked" for sure.

Where or where is a Wii?

In February, I received my modest income tax return. So, now I decided I would proceed on my Good Wii Hunting.

About 2 weeks after getting my return, the local game shop told me to be there Sunday. They wouldn't open until 10 a.m. but they had 3 Wii's coming in. So I arrived there about 5 a.m. with my big cup of coffee. Well, I'll be, if there weren't already 4 customers waiting, making me number 5.

I hung out until the opening crew got there, when they pulled me to the side and said they did indeed only get 3 and unless 2 of those other customers left, I was out of luck this time. I left, it didn't appear anyone was going to depart.

I was so hoping to get a Wii by mid March, so maybe I could give it to my youngest child for a birthday present, but as that date was fast approaching I felt I wouldn't be so lucky.

Lo and behold, Target ran an ad in the paper that they had some coming in. So again, early on a Sunday, armed with a magazine and coffee I went to get in line. There was suppose to be 15 units and I was the 10th person in line. This was a couple of hours before the store opened and I was amazed only one other person showed up after me by the time the store opened. But by the time it was my turn at the Electronics counter, another 4-5 customers showed up. Not all of them got a "special" Target ticket (saying the number we had arrived by). But I got my Wii.

Of course, I wanted it as bad as the kid's, so after I got a good day of house cleaning out of the kids, we hooked it up.

We want the Wii

This all come about getting close to Christmas 2007. Mainly from the mouth of my youngest child.

But, this had been a difficult year for me financially. What money I had in savings was to be used to send him on his Washington, DC trip, with the other Safety Patrols from his school.

Plus, I knew I had his birthday coming up in a few months after Christmas. Was just such a tight year, with just regular Christmas presents, the trip and his birthday, I knew I'd never be able to swing a Wii.

Plus, the fact, if I could I was having a horrible time finding one, like most everyone else looking.

But, I did have a good friend who worked at a local gaming store, told me when the next couple of shipments were expected, and what time to be there to be ALMOST assured a Wii.

I weighed my options, and steered clear of the attempting to get a Wii for Christmas. I told my son, just be patient and we would try for one for his birthday.
